Is it possible to replace my degraded firebrick with granite tile? If so what type of substructure would I prepare to set the tile?
Do I use a special type of mortar?

Is it possible to replace my degraded firebrick with granite tile? YES. If so what type of substructure would I prepare to set the tile? Do I use a special type of mortar? Go to a tile or home improvement store, tell them what you want to do and they will tell you exactly what you need and how to do it.

Is this replacing the fire brick inside the stove? I'm new to wood burning. What would the advantage to replacing the fire brick with granite? -SF
