My fireplace had no cap for many years, with no problems. As 2 trees grew over the house, I was concerned about an ember touching off one of them. I installed a Chimney cap. Now, whenever it rains with even the slightest wind, I have a significant dripping into my firebox. I actually have to put a metal pan to catch it all. How is this cap directing all that water down the flue?
